Dr. Esmail Nooriala
by Scott Smith

Dr. Esmail Nooriala is an accomplished author who also teaches at the University of Denver. His topic was the Middle East in the Global Village. Dr. Nooriala gave a historical perspective of how countries over time have been part of empire building to today's society of being much more interconnected through Globalization. He also questioned if the attempt to globalize the Middle East into the West's view of the world was truly benefiting that part of the world. We were honored to have such an expert speak to our group on such topical issues.

More Rotary stuff
by Scott Smith
John Wetherington announced this Saturday, November 4th they could use volunteers to box up computers we are sending off to the Rwandan school. This will take place at Abbas Rajabi's warehouse. Tom Beiging also reminded the group this year's holiday party will be December 2nd at Henry Roth's home. Thank you Henry for volunteering your digs for what promises to be a dancing with The Rotary Stars soiree.

Membership survey
by Scott Smith

Stewart Thomas and Diane Hornbecker presented the results of the most recent membership survey. Stewart did an excellent job of organizing in an easy to read presentation. Based on the results, Stewart and Diane will continue to consult with the membership on making our experience with Rotary even better. Thanks for all your hard work!

Hana Cerna
by Scott Smith

Our Rotary exchange student Hana (Hanka) Cerna, gave a great presentation on her background showing pictures of her family, her dog Tim as well as school and the town she lives, Cesky Krumlov in the southern part of the Czech Republic. Hanka loves to snowboard and has already been to Loveland. Her father is President of his local Rotary club. Hanka would love to hear from any and all of us to keep seeing all that Colorado has to offer. You can reach her either at John Wetherington's house or via email at h.cerna@email.cz.

Heard 'round the coffee pot
by Scott Smith

Joe Gregory attended the Bob Dylan concert this past week. From what he remembers, it was a great show and there were no other Rotary members there too out of control. Jan Top and her husband Kenn, just got back from visiting their daughter Kendra in Southern California where she is starting her career. Please keep the goods coming with the happenings of our fellow Rotarians. Always appreciate the latest info on each other's lives outside Thursday mornings.
